Thank you for watching our special screening of Mu and the Vanishing World with an exclusive Q&A with Mu herself and the filmmakers in celebration of World Refugee Day. We thank the filmmakers Paco Beltrán and Jessica W. Leung for showing us this culture and land, and Mu for sharing her story of strength and resilience.
The people of Myanmar/Burma are struggling for freedom once again and in dire and very similar conditions that provoked Mu’s family to flee when she was a child. Let’s raise our awareness regarding the situation in Myanmar/Burma as the international media is not adequately covering this crisis. Check out The Irrawaddy, a pro-democracy news website published by Burmese exiles living in Thailand.
The filmmakers and Mu recommended the organizations below that support the people in Myanmar/Burma and refugees in the U.S.
Free Burma Rangers
Free Burma Rangers is a medical mission group whose members go from Thailand to the jungles of Burma to bring medical care to the IDPs there (Internally Displaced Peoples). Footage of the back story in Burma in this documentary is from them. Their film footage is available to anyone who can help spread the awareness of the oppressed people they work with.
Hello Neighborhood Network
Hello Neighborhood Network is a coalition of grassroots organizations working in post-refugee resettlement in the U.S. who come together to grow and inspire change.
Coordination Team for Emergency Relief CTER (Karenni)
